Good Days are filled with...

Making brownies...but more importantly licking the bowl,
and the beaters...
playing in the new washer...thanks for teaching him dad!
Playing in his new sleeping bag!
Oh I just added these because this is the face E makes when he has to take a picture with mom...and no, I am not pinching or tickling his leg!

I just told him to take a pic with me:
See, better now that mom is gone..."cheese"

To the producers of Miss USA,

Why is it that the competition for Miss USA, the apparent symbol and idol to our young girls seems to be almost completely based upon looks? What does that alone tell our girls...as if they didn't have enough pressure and false impressions of what beauty really is, let's just pile it up and agree with all those who contribute to the falsities of how a woman should look.

What about brains, tact, compassion, physical abilities? I know some of these girls have competed in sports and other activities, but did you watch the swim suit portion of the show? Because half of them look like they may just collapse at any moment. Maybe that's the reason they have so many breaks between each event. I'm just saying that proportionately the amount of time spent on showing off beauty vs. the time spent on personality and how they feel about current events isn't even close to matching up! I know it's nerve racking to talk in front of all those people but if you are crowned, you better be good at it because that is your job (along with providing a pretty face of course)!  I get that they do a lot of videos and competitions before the actual show but why not focus on some of those things in the show?  Oh wait I know...because sex sells and that's why you make them all wear bikinis and ensure they have waxed!  Thanks America for setting such a good example!

Bikinis...is there no other way to tell if someone is really physically fit than to parade them around on stage wearing close to nothing?  I don't know about you, but I can tell a lot about myself it a pair of decently tight jeans and a t-shirt but my face usually says it all!  You don't have to be naked to understand skinny jeans will fit!

And I'm sorry but who chose Kelly Osborn as any kind of expert on personality or design?! Last time I checked a drunk poodle had more sense, but then again, who am I to judge fashion sense...you got me!

I also personally appreciated the rapper that came out and sang while the contestants modeled their elegant EVENING GOWNS! I guess it will make their pace faster. What says elegance better than a man in sunglasses and tennis shoes gasping the words of change between every five contestants?  And thanks to P-Ditty for volunteering for a front row position as a judge...can't imagine how your vote would be swayed?

I apologize to anyone who may have participated in a pageant and therefore may or may not be offended by my upcoming comments...I admit I didn't see the show in its entirety, but I like to feel I caught enough to pass adequate judgement.  I'm just happy KSL news didn't even have a story on it tonight...hopefully the title of Miss USA won't carry such a glorified meaning as long as it is run as a modeling competition.  I assure you I won't watch again I will encourage my future children to have better values that what I have seen tonight.

I have more but luckily I have a pregnancy brain that doesn't allow for quick memory access so lucky you, I cut this short.  I'm sure I will read this tomorrow and delete it, but for now I am experiencing what I like to call instant gratification!

More Naked Time!

What can I say...the boy is a free spirit! He took a bath and was so hungry he jumped up in his seat and started eating before I could grab him!

And here he grabbed his cowboy hat and ran down the hall! The picture missing is the one where he put the lamp shade on his head and ran away!

Seright Family Reunion...woot! woot!

We finally both took some much needed time off and headed north to Bear Lake for the big 2011 Seright Family Reunion! And boy did we build some memories! Here are just a few:

We arrived Thursday afternoon to a very breezy and cold lakeside camp site...we had just bought a new tent (that's another story), and as we set it up, Cecil realized his real strength...and the crapiness of the tent...and it broke-3 times while setting it up so we couldn't use it...wa wa wa. Fortunate for us, most siblings were late so an extra tent was brought for us.

We were right on Bear Lake and it was beeeeeeautiful! There were all these pelicans that kept flying so close to the shore. Ethan loved them so much that every time he saw them pass he would bolt to the rocky beach...

...and run right in...despite the freezing cold water!

Cecil's grandpa Douglas came with us. He is 95 years old but quite an incredible man! He did all the things we did including a hike through a cave including over 1,000 stairs! He was the oldest person to ever go through the cave and the tour guides were in awe!

This is where Ethan wanted to spend most of his time...

unless he was on one of these:

The boys just chillin' by the fire.

Cecil made fun of me for something so Ethan dumped his cup of water on Cecil's lap and started laughing! Thanks for the defense little buddy!

Kade caught being a mentor. Favorite dialogue between Uncle Kade and Brittany:
Kade: Do you know how to kill and cook a squirrel?
B: No
Kade: Well you gotta catch 'em and skin 'em and cook 'em over the fire. Do you like to eat squirrel?
B:No (with a disgusted look on her face)
Kade: Well you should try it some time.

Hiking in the reserve:

Face painting:

A beautiful night of skipping rocks...I still haven't improved much!

Reading with Grandpa Douglas:

What a great weekend and a much needed vacation! Thanks to all who helped made it special!

The King Has Returned

Well it's been a while, but we are still here and alive and as you can see, our big boy is turning into a little man! He's 20 months now and gliding into his own ideas rapidly (turns out he does have a little of me in him after all)!
He loves swimming, eggs, being naked, wrestling with dad, yelling, driving the car and all his stuffed animal friends (seriously, they go everywhere he does)! He loves making faces...thanks to dad's great example, and every time he hears something outside that resembles the sound of a truck or a bird he motions "shhh" to me and then perks his ears to listen.

Easter!

We went up north to be with the family for Easter this year and even though it was freezing (not really even warm enough for an easter bunny appearance), the cousins had a blast! Ethan figured out how to tell if the eggs had anything in them and worked on prying the tape off to get the goodies!
The little guys:
Yea, we were surprised he found a buried egg that fast too!
Not a big camera guy.
This is his approach to get the eggs to crack:
Can you tell it worked?
Just wait 'til next year Easter Bunny! I'll get you for dopping up my kid on sugar!
